Friendship Day

On Thursday, May 18, Year 4 students had their Friendship Day at our sports grounds in Tortuguitas. Friendship Days provide students with renewed opportunities to further develop personal and social awareness. The idea is to carry out activities that aim at getting to know each other more deeply and strengthen their bonds of friendship.

The Y4 Friendship Day began with an initial activity where students had to reflect on the  positive personal qualities and personality traits they identify in themselves and the aspects they acknowledge as opportunities to keep on working on. Then they shared these thoughts with four classmates they would like to get to know better. 

In the second activity they were grouped by Houses and they had to create a poster and a song for their House. During snack time, everyone brought something to share with their companions and a birthday celebration took place as well. 

Following that, students were divided into two groups and they took part in a treasure hunt. Friendship Day concluded back at school, where they had to make a collaborative drawing that represented the concept “Friendship”.  

The students really enjoyed spending the day with their classmates and teachers!

El jueves 18 de mayo los alumnos de Año 4 participaron de su “Friendship Day” en el campo de Tortuguitas. Los “Friendship Days” le dan a los chicos nuevas oportunidades para seguir desarrollando tanto la conciencia personal como la conciencia social. La idea es realizar actividades que fomenten el encuentro con el otro y el trabajo en equipo con el fin de conocerse con mayor profundidad y fortalecer los vínculos de amistad.   

El “Friendship Day” de Año 4 comenzó con un primer momento donde los alumnos tenían que pensar en qué cualidades y aspectos positivos de su personalidad les gusta de sí mismos y en qué aspectos detectan oportunidades para seguir trabajando. Luego compartieron sus reflexiones con cuatro compañeros que les gustaría conocer un poco más. 

En la segunda actividad se agruparon por Houses para crear un cartel y una canción para alentar a su House. Para el momento del snack cada uno trajo algo para compartir y festejamos un cumpleaños.

Después se dividieron en dos grupos y participaron de una búsqueda del tesoro. El “Friendship Day” concluyó en el colegio donde los alumnos hicieron un dibujo colaborativo representando el concepto de amistad. Cerramos el día con una reflexión grupal . Los alumnos disfrutaron mucho de este día junto a sus compañeros y maestros.
