The Northlands Tournament took place in Nordelta, with the participation of the following schools: St Luke’s, Michael Ham, St Mary’s of the Hills, St Matthew’s, Moorlands, San Lucas, and Northlands.

In hockey, Northlands demonstrated great spirit and secured a victory against St Mary’s of the Hills.

In rugby, the team finished in fourth place, standing out for their attitude and solid performance in matches against St Mary’s, St Matthew’s, Moorlands, and San Lucas.

In softball, both Northlands teams showed improvement throughout the day, finishing in 4th and 5th place.

In boys’ volleyball, Northlands teams achieved 1st and 3rd place among six participating schools.

The tournament was marked by respect, camaraderie, and strong commitment from all participants. We are delighted with the achievements and proud to organise these events, which—through great effort—help us nurture essential life skills in our beloved students.

Hockey
On 5 June, we participated in the Northlands tournament held at the Nordelta campus, competing against five other schools. It was an excellent day, with wonderful weather, great atmosphere from everyone, and very well organised.

We had a lot of fun playing hockey. We played two matches in the group stage and, although we lost both, we encouraged each other to push forward against San Mary of the Hills. The team’s motivation, both on and off the field, made the day very enjoyable and passed quickly.

During breaks, the other sports teams cheered for us as much as we did for them. There was a strong spirit of competition, always with respect and fair play.

It was a very enjoyable day, and I am already looking forward to next year’s event.

Results:

  • St Luke’s 1 – Northlands 0
  • M Hamm 2 – Northlands 1
  • St Mary of the Hills 0 – Northlands 1

Rugby
We began the tournament against Saint Mary, a team we had somewhat underestimated. We maintained a strong defence, but struggled in attack by not playing simply and spreading the ball. Nevertheless, we played a good match and secured a draw that we could have won.

In the second match against St Matthew, we made several tactical errors and conceded penalties which proved costly. Our defence was less effective compared to the first game, and the attack remained weak.

In the third match versus Moorlands, we simplified our game, which completely changed our performance. Despite some defensive mistakes and further rugby knowledge errors, we secured an important win.

Against San Lucas, we were dominant and were able to play to our strengths, winning comfortably.

In the final match, again against Moorlands, we started slowly, allowing the opposition to score three tries early on. Although we never gave up and fought back, it was too late to turn the game around.

Despite finishing fourth, the team gave their all and showed a high level of rugby throughout the tournament. Our strengths were a strong attacking attitude, handling skills, and communication. Areas for improvement include support play, defensive positioning, and simplifying our game.

Many thanks to Fran for his continual support and encouragement.

Francisco Aragón, Rugby Intermediate Captain

Softball
We entered two mixed teams in a round-robin tournament with five teams in total.

At first, it was difficult to find our rhythm and feel comfortable at the plate. Our defence improved progressively throughout the day. The batting began to find its spots, allowing us to advance the score. The defence showed quality and capability especially in the afternoon.

Beyond the results, the work done during the week and weekends was clearly reflected.

I am very proud of both teams, and I want to highlight their autonomy, positive energy, and willingness to work together and with me.

Results:

  • Northlands 1: 5th place
  • Northlands 2: 4th place

Volleyball
It was a great tournament.

We presented two male teams who finished in 1st and 3rd place among six participating schools.

We commend this group of athletes for their consistent and serious effort, which is evident in every competition.

Rugby
