At Northlands, Secondary School (ages 12 to 17) represents a pivotal stage in our students’ academic and personal development.

Our educational approach blends a rigorous curriculum, innovative methodologies, and a commitment to the holistic formation of each student, preparing them to become engaged leaders and global citizens in a constantly evolving world.

An educational proposal that empowers each student to design their own path with a global outlook.

Holistic Education and Innovative Methodologies

In Secondary, we build upon the foundations established in Primary, deepening inquiry, understanding, and critical thinking. Our approach includes:

Research and problem-solving: Students develop skills in scientific methodology, logical thinking and interdisciplinary work, tackling complex concepts across the Exact, Natural and Social Sciences, as well as the Arts.

Flexibility and choice: Through the compulsory International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), all students have the freedom to choose subjects and specialisations that align with their personal interests and goals. This allows for a truly personalised education, distinctive from other institutions.

Pre-University International Certifications

Unlike other educational models, at Northlands all students complete and sit for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, which is compulsory and renowned for its academic rigour and global recognition. This programme:

  • Allows students to select from a broad range of subjects according to their personal interests, thus tailoring their academic journey.

  • Enables them to certify academic, critical thinking and research skills according to global standards.

  • Provides a strong foundation to face future academic and professional challenges.

In addition, we foster proficiency in multiple languages—English, Spanish and the option to explore a third language—enhancing a multicultural and global perspective.

A Holistic Approach: Beyond the Classroom

The comprehensive development of our students is key at the Secondary level. We complement academic excellence with a rich co-curricular offering that includes:

  • Visual and Performing Arts: Music, theatre, film, and other artistic disciplines that promote creativity and self-expression.

  • Physical Education and Sports: A variety of sports that encourage teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyle habits.

  • Educational Trips and International Tours: Experiences designed to enrich learning through diverse cultural and educational contexts.

  • Community Service: Outreach activities that strengthen students’ empathy, values and social commitment.

Leadership and Career Guidance

At Northlands, we recognise that each student has a unique journey. Our leadership and career guidance programme supports students as they build their life project, helping them identify their strengths, interests and opportunities for growth.

Students take part in talks with professionals, workshops and activities that prepare them for the demands of university and professional life, both locally and internationally.
