Drop everything and read!
Last week was a blast as we celebrated Literacy Week at school !
The week kicked off with the engaging activity “Reading to a friend”, where we enjoyed great stories read by children from other years. Enebro Bookstore set up a lovely fair enriched with a great variety of books in Spanish and English. Each class, accompanied by their teachers, had the chance to explore it and pick out their favorite reads. Parents also joined in, exploring the fair alongside their children.
We were privileged to have Karina Moore, Gabriela Herbstein, and Dan Fennessy Panelli, parents from Y2, Y5, & Y6, share their marvelous stories with us! A delightful surprise came with Adrián Yeste’s visit, a renowned narrator who enthralled us with mesmerising tales at the Auditorium. Y5 & Y6 had the opportunity to listen to Dolores Avendaño´s outstanding story of life. She is an old Northlander, illustrator and marathonist who came to school and delivered a motivational speech for us all.
Our Literacy contest, “Reading for Friendship and Service” ended on Friday and Olivia Fennessy Pannelly´s recommendation was the winner! She earned a book for a friend and another to be sent to San Francisco de Asis Kindergarten. The week ended with our classic activity “Dear Time” allowing children to select from a variety of stories read by teachers. It was a week brimming with literature, providing ample opportunities to dream and soar away with books!
La semana pasada celebramos “Literacy Week” en Northlands. Comenzamos con la actividad participativa “Reading to a friend“, donde disfrutamos de grandes historias leídas por niños de otros años. La Librería “Enebro” montó una grandiosa feria con una amplia variedad de libros en español e inglés. Cada clase, acompañada por sus maestros, tuvo la oportunidad de explorar y elegir sus libros favoritos. Los padres también se sumaron al evento y recorrieron la feria junto a sus hijos.
¡Fuimos privilegiados de tener a Karina Moore, Gabriela Herbstein y Dan Fennessy Panelli, padres de Y2, Y5 y Y6, compartiendo sus maravillosas historias con nosotros! Adrián Yeste, un renombrado narrador nos cautivó con sus relatos fascinantes en el Auditorio. Los alumnos de Y5 y Y6 tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer acerca de las increíbles experiencias de vida de Dolores Avendaño. Ella es “Old Northlander”, ilustradora y maratonista y vino a la escuela para contagiarnos con su discurso motivacional .
Nuestro “Literacy contest”, “Reading for Friendship and Service“, terminó el viernes y la recomendación de Olivia Fennessy Pannelly fue la ganadora. ¡Se ganó un libro para un amigo y otro para enviar al Jardín de Infantes San Francisco de Asís! La semana finalizó con nuestra actividad clásica “Dear Time“, que permitió a los alumnos elegir cuentos entre una variedad de historias leídas por los maestros. ¡Fue una semana colmada de literatura, con muchas oportunidades para soñar y volar con los libros!
