OLIVOS & NORDELTA KINDER

The Olivos K5 children welcomed the Nordelta K5s to celebrate Founder’s Day. Together they enjoyed a snack in the playground and headed over to the Brightman Hall to enjoy a performance of Polly by On the Road. Polly is a flower who won’t grow, and her friends try different things to help her out. But it is only when she meets Daisy, and shares time with another flower, that Polly overcomes her limitations. Some students even got to go up on stage and help Polly! After this engaging show all the new friends ate lunch at the picnic tables in Secondary and shared the playground together. What a great day full of fun and making new friends! 

Los niños de K5 Olivos recibieron a los K5 de Nordelta para celebrar el Founder ‘s Day. Juntos disfrutaron de una merienda en el patio y se dirigieron al Brightman Hall para disfrutar de una representación de Polly de On the Road: Polly es una flor que no puede crecer y sus amigos intentan ayudarla. Pero sólo cuando conoce a Daisy, y comparte tiempo con otra flor, Polly supera sus limitaciones. Algunos alumnos incluso pudieron subir al escenario y ayudar a Polly!. Después del espectáculo, todos los nuevos amigos almorzaron en las mesas de picnic de Secundaria y compartieron juntos el patio de recreo. ¡Qué gran día lleno de diversión y de hacer nuevos amigos!

OLIVOS PRIMARY & SECONDARY

Within the frame of Founder’s Day, Y12 students planned and carried out different tasks for primary students to put our school motto into action. The activities were diverse and according to the students’ age. There were giant school shield puzzles, murals, blind-folded games, quizzes and teamwork games. Each group ended up reflecting upon our school spirit. It was a lovely meeting with the eldest group in school.

Also Y6 students taught their little brothers and little sisters the school anthem. They worked in each stanza and drew each of them in order to help Y1 students understand their meaning.

Los alumnos de año 12 planificaron y llevaron a cabo diferentes tareas para los alumnos de primaria, con el objetivo de poner en acción el lema de nuestro colegio. Las actividades fueron muy variadas y estaban pensadas de acuerdo a la edad de los alumnos. Hubo rompecabezas gigantes del escudo del colegio, murales, juegos con los ojos tapados, acertijos y juegos de trabajo en equipo. Cada grupo cerró el encuentro con una reflexión sobre el espíritu del colegio. Fue un lindísimo encuentro compartido con los alumnos más grandes.

Por su parte, los big brothers and sisters de Y6 enseñaron a sus hermanos pequeños de Y1 el Himno del colegio. Repasaron cada estrofa e hicieron dibujos para que comprendieran su significado.

FOUNDER’S DAY ASSEMBLY

Our primary students celebrated Founder’s Day with a special assembly with the theme of friendship and service.

The event highlighted the importance of the school’s founder and her vision of building a community that values friendship and serving others. Ms Gillian Hartley, ON who works in Primary and knew Ms Brightman, shared her personal experience, memories, anecdotes and inspiration.

The assembly also featured our community choir, directed by Gustavo Felice, that chose a song that showcased the values of kindness, generosity, and compassion, the pillars of the school’s mission.

The event ended on a high note, with the school house captains reaffirming its commitment to uphold the principles of friendship and service. They also had their first house meeting.

Many, many things have changed throughout the years; we have grown, innovated and evolved. Yet her vision remains intact and makes NORTHLANDS what it is today, 103 years later.

Nuestros alumnos de Primaria celebraron Founder’s Day con una assembly cuyo tema central fue “Friendship and Service”. 

El encuentro buscó resaltar el valor de la fundadora del colegio, y su visión de forjar una comunidad que valore la amistad y el servicio. Ms Gillian Hartley, ON que trabaja en la Primaria y conoció a Ms Brightman, compartió su experiencia personal, recuerdos, anécdotas y consejos. 

Además, recibimos al Coro de la Comunidad, dirigido por Gustavo Felice, que eligió una canción que resalta los valores de cordialidad, generosidad y compasión, pilares de la misión de Northlands. 

El evento terminó con el Himno del colegio y el compromiso de los House Captains de fomentar los valores de Friendship and Service. Además, tuvieron su primer House Meeting. 

Muchas, muchas cosas han cambiado a lo largo de los años; hemos crecido, innovado y evolucionado. Sin embargo, la visión de Ms Brightman se mantiene intacta y hace NORTHLANDS lo que es hoy, 103 años después. 

NORDELTA PRIMARY

At Northlands we celebrate Founder´s Day every 30 March as it is the birth date of Miss Brightman, our founder. 

This day brings us together as a community to honor Miss Brightman´s legacy and connects us with the history and values of our school. This year, days before this important event, students from Year 12 shared different activities with our Primary students. They delved into the history of the school and analyzed the meaning of each of the components of  the school shield . Year 1 students, together with K5, were invited to participate in this activity. In addition, EP2 students expressed what the motto chosen by Miss Brightman, “Friendship and Service” means to them and this was exhibited at the school entrance. 

To finish with this process, on Thursday 30 March, Primary and Secondary students got together in the Auditorium for an Assembly where they watched a video that resumes these 103 years of history and listened to an interview that was made to two former students: Camila Aguzzi (ON 2015) and Verónica Crivaro (ON 1984). The Assembly ended with the singing of the school song. Following the event, the Primary students gathered with their house members  to listen to a speech delivered by the new Primary House Captains who invited them to live in accordance with our motto, Friendship and Service.

En Northlands celebramos Founder´s Day todos los 30 de marzo ya que es la fecha del nacimiento de Miss Brightman, nuestra fundadora. 

Este es un día que nos invita como comunidad a honrar el legado de Miss Brightman y a conectarnos con la historia y los valores de nuestro colegio. Este año, días previos a este importante evento, los alumnos de año 12 compartieron distintas actividades con los alumnos de Primaria. Ahondaron en la historia del colegio y analizaron el significado de cada uno de los componentes del escudo del colegio. Los alumnos de Y1 fueron invitados a participar de esta actividad junto a los alumnos de K5. Los alumnos de EP2 a su vez expresaron qué significa para ellos el lema elegido por Miss Brightman: “Friendship and Service” y esto fue exhibido a la entrada del colegio.

Para finalizar este proceso, el jueves 30 de marzo, los alumnos de Primaria y Secundaria se unieron en el auditorio para compartir un Assembly en donde observaron un video que resume estos 103 años de historia. Asimismo, presenciaron una entrevista que se realizó a dos ex -alumnas: Camila Aguzzi (ON 2015) y Verónica Crivaro (ON 1984). El Assembly culminó con el canto del School Song. Posterior al evento, los alumnos de Primaria se reunieron con los miembros de su House para escuchar un discurso de los nuevos House Captains de Primaria, quienes los invitaron a vivir acorde a nuestro lema Friendship and Service.
