This month, the K5s from Olivos Kinder embarked on a journey of self-discovery through the Unit of Inquiry “This Is Me.” They explored their bodies, identified external and internal parts, and reflected on how to care for themselves to stay healthy and prevent accidents.
Guided by thought-provoking questions the children chose topics that sparked their interest. In small groups, they selected appropriate sources of information, sought answers, interpreted data, and shared their findings.
This experience fostered their curiosity and developed skills such as question formulation, research, teamwork, data interpretation, and critical thinking. They also enhanced their communication by sharing discoveries and practiced active listening. Artistic expression played a key role, allowing them to approach concepts from different experiences and unleash their creativity.
The unit integrated knowledge, action, and coexistence, promoting autonomy, curiosity, and a strong inquiring spirit among the children.
