Meeting with Santa Monica School from Brazil
On Friday 28 August, we had the pleasure of welcoming Santa Mónica School from Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
The school places a strong emphasis on English language learning and is an Official Cambridge Preparation Centre, preparing its students for international certifications.
This visit provided us with a valuable opportunity to practise English and Portuguese, strengthen our social skills and, above all, build new connections. Once again, sport became a true vehicle for bringing people together, allowing us to connect, share experiences and learn more about other cultures and communities.
The experience went far beyond the playing field: we stepped away from the competition to become welcoming hosts, sharing, talking and getting to know more about our visitors and their community.
Thank you to all the students and teachers who took part for doing so with such an open, humble and caring mindset, showing that sport can also teach us how to connect with others, appreciate our differences and build meaningful relationships.
Because when sport brings us together, it also gives us the opportunity to learn from one another.
El viernes 28 de agosto tuvimos el placer de recibir a Santa Mónica Colegio, de Pelotas, Río Grande do Sul, Brasil.
Se trata de una institución con un fuerte enfoque en el aprendizaje del idioma inglés y reconocida como Centro Preparatorio Oficial de Cambridge, preparando a sus alumnos para certificaciones internacionales.
Este encuentro nos brindó una valiosa oportunidad para practicar inglés y portugués, fortalecer nuestras habilidades sociales y, sobre todo, generar nuevos vínculos. Una vez más, el deporte se convirtió en un verdadero vehículo de encuentro, capaz de acercarnos, conectarnos y permitirnos conocer otras culturas y comunidades.
La experiencia fue mucho más allá de la cancha: salimos del espacio de competencia para convertirnos en buenos anfitriones, compartir, conversar y descubrir más sobre quienes nos visitaban.
Gracias a todos los estudiantes y profesores que participaron por hacerlo con una mentalidad abierta, humilde y amorosa, demostrando que el deporte también nos enseña a encontrarnos con otros, valorar las diferencias y construir vínculos.
Porque cuando el deporte nos encuentra, también nos brinda la oportunidad de aprender unos de otros.
