Y4 Students made Argentine cockades for Flag Day.
As part of the preparations for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, Year 4 students were visited by a group of Old Northlanders and mothers from the year group, sharing a morning of activities and memories.
The purpose of the gathering was to guide the children in handcrafting their own escarapelas using weaving looms. These badges, created by the pupils themselves, will be worn on the day of their pledge.
Beyond the craft activity, the morning became a space for exchange between past and present. Whilst intertwining the light blue and white threads, the Old Northlanders shared stories about what the school was like during their own time as pupils. Listening to these accounts sparked the children’s interest and strengthened their sense of belonging to the school community.
It was a day of connection, where the school’s history and respect for national symbols came together in the classroom. The Year 4 pupils thoroughly enjoyed the initiative, learning both the weaving technique and the value of working together.

En el marco de los preparativos para la Promesa de Lealtad a la Bandera, los alumnos de Year 4 recibieron la visita de un grupo de Old Northlanders y madres de la camada, con quienes compartieron una mañana de actividad y recuerdos.
El propósito del encuentro fue guiar a los chicos en la confección artesanal de sus propias escarapelas utilizando telares. Estas insignias, creadas por ellos mismos, serán las que los alumnos utilizarán el día de su jura.
Más allá de la actividad manual, la mañana se transformó en un espacio de intercambio entre el pasado y el presente. Entre el entrelazado de los hilos celestes y blancos, las Old Northlanders relataron cómo era el colegio en sus épocas de estudiantes. Escuchar estas historias despertó el interés de los más chicos y reforzó el sentido de pertenencia a la comunidad institucional.
Fue una jornada de conexión, donde la historia del colegio y el respeto por los símbolos patrios se unieron en el aula. Los alumnos de Year 4 disfrutaron de la propuesta, aprendiendo tanto la técnica del telar como el valor del trabajo compartido.
