Craft Project - Y3 Nordelta

As part of the Unit of Inquiry “Production Circuits”, Y3 students carried out a craft project using the weaving loom technique.
Using a variety of materials, such as wool, cardboard and wooden sticks, they began to learn how a textile piece can be created by hand.
First, we prepared the base of the loom, learning that it is called the warp, which serves as the main structure on which the weaving is later built. Afterwards, the children selected yarns of different colours and textures and began passing the threads horizontally to create the weft.
With patience and careful attention, the students interlaced the yarns, passing them over and under the warp threads. In this way, they were able to observe how, little by little, the fabric started to take shape. Throughout the process, they explored combinations of colours, patterns, shapes and textures, while developing their creativity and fine motor skills.
Working with a loom allowed the children to appreciate the time, dedication and care required in an artisanal production process. Each piece created is unique, reflecting the individual choices, preferences and personal expression of every Y3 student.
Through this activity, the children learned about textile art as an artistic technique, the value of manual craftsmanship, and the stages of an artisanal production circuit, from obtaining wool from sheep through to the finished product. They also gained an understanding of the patience and perseverance involved in any creative process.

Dentro del marco de la unidad de indagación “Circuitos Productivos” los alumnos de Y3 realizaron un trabajo artesanal utilizando la técnica del telar.
A partir de distintos materiales, como lanas, cartón y palitos de madera, comenzaron a conocer cómo se construye una pieza textil de manera manual.
Primero, preparamos la base del telar, aprendimos que se llama: urdimbre, la cual funciona como la estructura principal sobre la que luego se va a tejer. Después, eligimos lanas de diferentes colores y texturas para comenzar a pasar los hilos de manera horizontal, formando una trama.
Con paciencia y atención, los chicos fueron entrelazando y pasando lanas por arriba y por abajo de la urdimbre.
De esta manera, pudieron observar cómo, poco a poco, el tejido comenzaba a tomar forma. Durante el proceso, exploramos combinaciones de colores, ritmos, formas y texturas, desarrollando su creatividad y motricidad fina.
El trabajo en telar permitió valorar el tiempo, la dedicación y el cuidado que requiere una producción artesanal.
Cada pieza realizada es única, ya que reflejó las decisiones, gustos y expresiones personales de cada uno de los chicos y chicas de Y3.
A través de esta actividad, aprendimos que existe el arte textil como una técnica artística, también la importancia del trabajo manual, de un circuito productivo artesanal desde que la lana se obtiene de las ovejas y la paciencia que implica un proceso creativo.
