ANGLO WEEK at Northlands

NORDELTA KINDER

Durante Anglo Week, exploramos y celebramos la cultura y los aportes británicos a través de cuentos tradicionales, canciones infantiles, juegos, canciones y deportes.

Los alumnos tuvieron la oportunidad de escuchar, aprender y compartir rimas clásicas como Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, I’m a Little Teapot y Baa Baa Black Sheep, además de disfrutar de divertidas historias en inglés.

También jugaron a una variedad de juegos tradicionales como Duck, Duck, Goose, Hot Potato, What’s the Time, Mr Wolf? y The Little Color Witch.

Y por último, pero no menos importante, en las clases de Educación Física pudieron jugar al rugby y al hockey, dos deportes tradicionales ingleses que forman parte del plan de estudios de nuestra escuela.

En línea con la misión de Northlands — una escuela que valora sus raíces anglo-argentinas y respeta todas las culturas, religiones y nacionalidades — celebramos con orgullo nuestra herencia británica y honramos la rica historia de Northlands.

OLIVOS PRIMARY

During Anglo Week, we enthusiastically celebrated our British roots through a wide range of creative and meaningful activities that helped students connect with the culture of the United Kingdom. Each year group prepared different proposals related to British culture:
– In the Library, students read various versions of Alice in Wonderland, explored the stories and rhymes of Roald Dahl, and enjoyed the classic Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. In Spanish lessons, the older students worked on stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, while the younger ones had fun with traditional rhymes and characters.
– In Year 3, pupils enjoyed a lovely tea party, where each child brought their own crockery and something to share. They also explored iconic British landmarks and created digital collages using Pic Collage and Padlet. Throughout the week, they watched episodes of Paddington Bear’s Adventures!
– In Year 6, students took part in a special activity connected to their Unit of Inquiry on the detective genre: they solved an “Anglo Mystery”, investigating famous detectives from British literature. The experience ended with a proper English Breakfast, with everyone in costume!
– In Spanish Immersion, we held our second session of the year. Emma, one of the teachers, shared stories about her British roots, bringing photos, tea, Marmite, books and toys. The children had a lovely discussion about how people keep their traditions and culture alive when living in another country.
The week ended with our beloved Anglo Week Parade, where characters such as Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, Queen Elizabeth, Mr Bean and Mary Poppins filled the playground with colour and joy. With costumes, music and laughter, we wrapped up an unforgettable celebration.

Durante la Anglo Week celebramos con entusiasmo nuestras raíces británicas a través de una variedad de actividades creativas y significativas que conectaron a los estudiantes con la cultura del Reino Unido. Cada grado preparó propuestas relacionadas con la cultura del Reino Unido:
– En la Biblioteca, leyeron diferentes versiones de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, exploraron cuentos y rimas de Roald Dahl y disfrutaron del clásico Peter Rabbit de Beatrix Potter. En las clases de Español, los grados más altos trabajaron con cuentos de Arthur Conan Doyle, mientras que los más chicos se divirtieron con rimas y personajes tradicionales.
– En Year 3, se realizó una hermosa ceremonia del té, donde cada niño trajo vajilla y algo para compartir. También exploraron paisajes británicos típicos y crearon collages digitales con fotos de los mismos utilizando la app Pic Collage y Padlet. Además, ¡disfrutaron de las aventuras de Paddington Bear durante toda la semana!
– En Year 6, los alumnos participaron de una propuesta especial conectada con su unidad de indagación sobre género policial: resolvieron un “Misterio anglosajón”, investigando distintos detectives icónicos de la literatura británica. Y cerraron la experiencia con un auténtico English Breakfast disfrazados.
– En Spanish Immersion, celebramos nuestro segundo encuentro, donde Emma, docente del programa, compartió sobre sus raíces británicas. Trajo fotos, té, Marmite, libros y juguetes, y conversó con los chicos sobre cómo mantener vivas las tradiciones culturales al vivir en otros países.
– El gran final fue nuestro clásico Anglo Week Parade, donde personajes como Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, la Reina Isabel, Mr. Bean y Mary Poppins llenaron el patio de color y alegría. Con disfraces, música y risas, celebramos juntos una semana inolvidable.

During “Anglo Week”, our students explored the rich culture and heritage of the United Kingdom, learning about the nations that form it and the meaning behind the Union Jack. Within this framework, each year group engaged in age-appropriate activities that deepened their understanding of the school’s identity and British traditions. Year 1, as part of their unit A Trip Back in Time, read traditional British stories and imagined what life was like in the past. Year 2 reflected on why we celebrate Anglo Week at school and discussed the importance of recognising our roots. Year 4 focused on the countries that make up the UK, researching each nation’s flag, national flowers, music and traditions, and creating collaborative posters to showcase their findings. Year 5 held discussions about the famous British author Roald Dahl and revisited some of his literary works that they read throughout the year. Finally, Year 6 analysed the different countries of the UK, explored key cultural elements, and created a Paper Poppin’ Fact Finder to share fun facts and play with friends and family.
The week came to a joyful close with a spectacular parade of British characters, where students and teachers dressed up as their favourite figures from literature and history. Music and celebration filled the air as we all enjoyed a truly magical morning together.

Durante la “Anglo week”, nuestros alumnos exploraron la rica cultura e historia del Reino Unido, aprendiendo sobre las naciones que lo conforman y el significado de la bandera británica. En este marco, cada grado participó de actividades significativas y acordes a su edad, profundizando en el conocimiento de las raíces de nuestra escuela y las tradiciones británicas. Year 1, dentro de la unidad A Trip Back in Time, leyó cuentos tradicionales británicos e imaginó cómo era la vida en el pasado. Year 2 reflexionó sobre la importancia de celebrar la Semana Anglo y debatió sobre el valor de reconocer nuestras raíces. Year 4 investigó los países que integran el Reino Unido, explorando sus banderas, flores nacionales, música y tradiciones, y elaboró afiches colaborativos para compartir lo aprendido. Year 5 conversó sobre el reconocido autor británico Roald Dahl y volvió a leer algunas de sus obras trabajadas durante el año. Finalmente, Year 6 analizó los países que componen el Reino Unido, investigó distintas características culturales y confeccionó un Paper Poppin’ Fact Finder para jugar y compartir datos curiosos con amigos y familia.
La semana cerró con un espectacular desfile de personajes británicos: alumnos y docentes se disfrazaron de sus figuras favoritas de la literatura y la historia. A través de la música y el desfile, vivimos una mañana maravillosa, llena de alegría y celebración.

Anglo week at Northlands has become a tradition where we deep dive into British culture and celebrate our anglo roots with different initiatives throughout all sections. Anglo Week en Northlands se ha convertido en una tradición en la que nos sumergimos en la cultura británica y celebramos nuestras raíces anglo con diversas iniciativas en todas las secciones. ¡Es una semana llena de emoción y magia!
