Y1 Bridging with Kinder – Orange Marmalade Project

Last week, the Y1 students enthusiastically took part in the first stage of the “Bitter Orange Marmalade Experience”. In this initial instance, the children went on a walk around the school surroundings, where they observed, identified, and mapped the orange trees in the Olivos neighbourhood. It was a very enriching activity that allowed them to connect learning with their immediate environment, spark curiosity, and work as a team.
The K5 students warmly welcomed the Y1 children, who shared with them the map they had created. In this way, the younger ones now know exactly where to go to collect the oranges, encouraging exchange between groups and fostering collaboration across different year levels.
We are very happy that the children can experience these valuable moments, which bring together exploration, learning, and togetherness.

La semana pasada, los alumnos de Y1 participaron con mucho entusiasmo de la primera parte de la “Experiencia de Mermeladas de Naranjas Amargas”. En esta primera instancia, los chicos realizaron una caminata por los alrededores del Colegio, donde se dedicaron a observar, reconocer y mapear los árboles de naranja del barrio de Olivos. Fue una actividad muy enriquecedora que les permitió conectar el aprendizaje con el entorno cercano, despertar la curiosidad y trabajar en equipo.
Los chicos de K5 recibieron con mucha alegría a los alumnos de Y1, quienes les compartieron el mapa que elaboraron. De esta manera, los más pequeños sabrán exactamente dónde ir a recolectar las naranjas, promoviendo un intercambio entre grupos y favoreciendo la colaboración entre diferentes grados.
Estamos muy contentos de que los chicos puedan vivir estas experiencias tan valiosas, que integran la exploración, el aprendizaje y la convivencia.
