Service Learning Activity with Y6 OP – A special visit from Lucero del Alba School
Our Y6 students recently worked on the topic of Intellectual Disability through recreational activities with the children of Lucero del Alba. In preparation for this experience, they engaged in PSE sessions that helped them understand the topic in depth, reflect on inclusion, and develop the tools needed to participate respectfully and responsibly. After the activity, they also had the chance to ask questions to their Deputy Head, which allowed them to process the experience, clarify doubts, and deepen their learning. We are proud to share that throughout the visit, our students demonstrated remarkable empathy, patience, and care—interacting warmly, supporting the children in every activity, and showing a genuine commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Nuestros alumnos de Y6 trabajaron recientemente sobre el tema de la Discapacidad Intelectual a través de actividades recreativas junto a los niños de Lucero del Alba. Para prepararse para esta experiencia, participaron en sesiones de PSE que les permitieron comprender el tema en profundidad, reflexionar sobre la inclusión y desarrollar las herramientas necesarias para participar de manera respetuosa y responsable. Tras la actividad, también tuvieron la oportunidad de hacerle preguntas a su Deputy Head, lo que les permitió procesar la experiencia, aclarar dudas y profundizar su aprendizaje. Estamos orgullosos de compartir que, durante toda la visita, nuestros alumnos demostraron una notable empatía, paciencia y dedicación, interactuando con calidez, acompañando a los niños en cada actividad y mostrando un compromiso genuino con la creación de un ambiente positivo e inclusivo.
